Richard Bronson

Richard “Rick” Alan Bronson of Somers, Montana, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, on March 12, 2021, He was 74.

Rick was born on October 15, 1946 in Ontario, Oregon to Rosemary Carr and Eugene Bronson. Rick spent the first 10 years of his life on the family cattle ranch in Malheur City, Oregon. The family moved to Molalla, Oregon, before settling in Crescent City, CA.

Rick attended Crescent City High School, and was drafted by the Army in 1964. Rick served honorably with sharp shooter designation. His assignments included Berlin, Germany guarding the Berlin Wall, as well as various WWII prisoners, before finally being assigned to a Presidential security detail.

After proudly serving his country, Rick returned to Crescent City, and resumed his career as a truck driver for Snoozie Shavings. He would later work for Joe Costa, Risberg, and Reddaway in Brookings, OR, before retiring with UPS Freight in Eugene, OR after 51 years of driving truck.

Rick was a race car driver at Redwood Acres Speedway in the 70’s and 80’s, but the true love of his life was his wife Beckie, whom he married in 1989, and had two kids with, Amanda, and Nathan.

Rick was active in his church, loved his country, and was passionate about politics, and the direction of his country because of his experiences in the military. He spent his time traveling to places such as Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, Yellowstone, and Mt Rushmore. Rick also enjoyed boating, fishing, working his mini farm, raising bulls and alpaca, and spending time with his family and dogs. Later in life he migrated to the Flathead Valley, where he fell in love with the Montana way of life.

Rick is survived by his wife of 31 years, Beckie of Somers, MT. Daughter, Amanda of Portland, OR. Son, Nathan and daughter in-law Chelsea of Junction City, OR. He is also survived by sisters, Suzy Norris of Glen Allen, VA, and Kathy Bronson-Colagrande and husband Federico, of Newport News, VA. Rick also had a close bond with his numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Rosemary and Eugene Bronson, and brother Pete Bronson.

A celebration of life will be held in Oregon at a time and place to be determined.
