Richard Jepsen passed away peacefully in the presence of his family, on January 19, 2017 at the Brendan House.

Richard was born to John & Elizabeth Jepsen on January 12, 1935 in Hartford, CT, he was the youngest of four children.

Richard graduated from Hartford High School in 1953. He attended University of Connecticut –majoring in mathematics and physical education graduating in 1957.

Between 1957 and 1977 Richard taught mathematics and biology in both junior high and high school in Windsor CT. He also coached cross-country. After moving to Haines he continued teaching math in high school and college.

Richard met the love of his life Pauline Loiseau at a basketball game at UCONN in 1956 they married on December 27, 1958. They had 8 children while living in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

In 1977, Richard and Pauline moved with their family to Haines AK. They lived there for 37 years.  In 2014 Richard and Pauline moved down to Kalispell where they currently reside.

Richard enjoyed spending time with family, sports, especially baseball and basketball, fishing, gardening, and taking walks around the neighborhood. He was a loyal UCONN fan.

Richard was a man of few words but was full of wisdom and is so fondly remembered by all for his gentle and kind spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Jepsen, son Steven Jepsen, daughter Christine Moore, and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Pauline of 58 years of Kalispell, MT, sister Shirley Berner of East Hartford CT,  brother John Jepsen of Columbus OH, son Richard Jepsen and wife Sarah of Delta Junction AK, daughter Jean Kierce and husband Dan of Salem OR, son Ken Jepsen and wife Joan of Kalispell MT, daughter Sarah Carbajal and husband Francisco of Kalispell MT, daughter Beth Kimble and husband Ben of Kalispell MT and son Peter Jepsen and wife Esther of Kalispell MT, 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews .

A memorial service will be held on January 28, 2017, at 2p.m. 436 Birch Grove, Kalispell, MT, Hope Church.
