Robert Stanley Black passed away May 15, 2011. Robert was born to Otis and Marie Black, April 5, 1930 in Colville, Washington. He married his high school sweetheart Barbara Jean Phillips in 1949.
Bob and Barbara raised four children in the Flathead Valley then moved to the Washington coast and enjoyed many years of boating in the San Juan’s with family members, and many friends. In 1995 they moved back to Kalispell to be near their family. Robert is survived by his four children; daughter Linda Sager and husband Robert of Ronan, son Bob Black and wife Becky of Kalispell, daughter Diane Volkman and husband Victor of Columbia Falls, and daughter Karen Black of Kalispell, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. His brother, Lester Black and wife Anna from Federal Way, Washington, sister Della Beller and husband Russell from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and sister Delores Peters from Columbia Falls, Montana and sister-in-law Phyllis Getchell and husband Scotty from Pasco, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was an electrician and retired from BPA in 1992. He was a member of the IBEW and earned his 55 year member award. He was also in the Navy Reserves.
His strength of character and reliability will always be a treasured memory.
