Robert Leland Glencross, 65, passed away suddenly on Jan. 20, 2014, of an apparent heart attack.
Robert was born June 17, 1948, in Wallace, Idaho, to Jack and Arnita Glencross. He lived in the Burke Canyon and attended school there until the sixth grade. They then moved to Wallace, Idaho, where he would graduate from high school in 1966.
After high school, Bob attended college for a short period. He also worked various jobs including mining and bartending. He ultimately decided to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he would end up being honorably discharged due to having flat feet.
In March 1973 he married Judith Ann Schultz. On July 17, 1974, they welcomed a wonderful baby boy, Errin Patrick Glencross. Shortly after his birth the couple moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where he attended Milwaukee Area Technical College and earned his degree in mortuary science. They lived there for five years where he became an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
In 1979 after college graduation, Bob moved to American Falls, Idaho. While there, he owned a hardware store and worked for Davis Mortuary. In 1983, while working part time for Cenex, he would meet his future wife, Dorothy Irene Phillips. They were married on July 7, 1984. They would live there until the funeral business took them to Bullhead City, Ariz., in 1986. Here they would have two children, Christopher Everett Glencross, born March 19, 1989, and Whitney Renae Glencross, born July 14, 1992.
In June 1993, Bob accepted a job at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell to be closer to home. He would work at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home until the time of his passing. During those 20 years he loved taking all of his family and friends on fishing excursions, huckleberry picking, wildlife searching and hunting. Everyone was always welcome, as Bob never knew a stranger. He enjoyed taking anyone for a ride into the mountains to experience our beautiful state. He also loved coaching his kids through Little League baseball, and Little Guy football. He was "Coach Bob" to many.
During his time in Kalispell, Bob grew to know many people in the community that he would call friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; former wife, Judith Glencross; and his favorite uncle, Everett, and Everett's daughter, Velva Jo McCorkle.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Glencross, his sons, Errin Glencross and Trina Coman, and Christopher Glencross, and daughter, Whitney, and husband Gabriel Spencer, all of Kalispell; his oldest son, Chris, and wife, Michelle Hansen, of California; his sisters, Mary Perkins and her husband Randy of Kellogg, Idaho, and Debi Lawrence and her husband Gary of Walla Walla, Wash.; seven grandsons and one granddaughter; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special family friend, Tyrone Sauer.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Bartholomew officiating. A potluck reception will be held immediately following the service at the Kalispell Eagles.
The family requests memorials be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Bob's name.
