Rose Sweetser

April 19, 1928 — April 21, 2022

Kalispell

Rose Valeria (LaChambre) Sweetser, age 94 of Kalispell, passed away April 21, 2022 due to natural causes. Rose was born April 19, 1928 in Missoula, Montana to Orlando “Dutch” and Louise (LaChambre) Vittorie. One of seven children, she would be raised in Missoula where she would also graduate from the Sacred Heart Academy.

As a single mother Rose married her true love Jay Willis Sweetser in 1953 and together they would raise four  wonderful children. Rose would become a secretary, starting at Boeing. She would later work for the State of Montana Highway Department and the Office of Public Instruction.  Rose would eventually become a real estate agent and owned residential rental properties with her husband. After 41 unbelievable years together, Jay passed away in 1994.

She was very involved in  the Central Bible Church women’s Bible study, Bankwest Summit Club, and attended  Risen Christ Catholic Church. Rose’s passions were art, horses, cooking, traveling, She always got excited about the  newest  gadget or technology. She enjoyed music and dancing, had a great sense of humor and loved to tease others to their delight.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband Jay; and son Greg Sweetser parents Dutch and Louise; and her siblings Clara, Antoinette, Jack, Ted, Gerri Goheen and brother Louis Vittorie.  She is survived by her children Linda (Bob) Heffernan, Valerie Diane Sweetser and Charles Sweetser, all of Kalispell; grandchildren Haley Hunthausen, John, Luke, Shea, Will and Mattea Rose Heffernan; greatgrandchildren Austin Martell, Natalie, Samuel, Landon, Anna Rose Heffernan, Knoxyn, Kove Nicole-Rose Heffernan and various cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held for Rose Friday, April 29, 2022 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with a viewing starting at 10:00 am and the service starting at 11:00 am. A burial service will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Missoula, MT. Memorials are suggested to Risen Christ Catholic Parish in Evergreen, MT and to the Flathead County Animal Shelter. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
