Sandra Katherine (Rodler) Parod, 71, passed away Nov. 22, 2013, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, due to a heart attack.
Sandy was born July 7, 1942, in Butte. She was raised in Bigfork. She graduated from Bigfork High School in 1959, and with honors from Northern Montana College in Havre in 1961, with an associate's degree for medical secretary.
She married Ted W. Parod on Aug. 30, 1964. They later divorced, in January of 1981.
From 1970 to 1991, Sandy worked for J. Austin Miller, Dan Eigeman and Jerry Hanson. She retired in 1991, from JCCS in Kalispell.
Sandy had been an active member of Al-Anon since May of 1981.
She enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and anything outdoors. In 1973, she became the first woman to have a Montana state commercial pilot license for hot air balloon operations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and LaVerne (Bellmore) Rodler; and her brother, Ken Rodler.
Sandy is survived by her brothers, James and Jeanette Bray of Kalispell, and Robert Bray of Kalispell; nieces and nephews, Krista Rodler of Kalispell, Starrling Rodler of Kalispell, Nicole Anton and Savanah Anton, Vicki and Haakon Bray Walhus, Michael and Terri Bray, Tim and Aysem Bray of South Korea, and Jennifer, Katie, Daniel Shandy and Bobby Lee Parod - her "children by choice." She is also survived by her special friends, Terry Youtt, and Agie and Don Petersen.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Kalispell.
