Valee E. (Jenkins) Lewis, 91, passed away March 21, 2014, in Kalispell.
Valee was born Nov. 27, 1922, to Rice and Eva (Lewis) Jenkins on their farm near Brockton, Mont.
She graduated from Brockton High School in 1939. On March 7, 1942, she married Roscoe D. Lewis in Glendive, Mont. After their marriage they lived in Fairview, Mont. In 1947 the family moved to Portland and in September 1956, the family moved to Kalispell where she has resided since. Mrs. Lewis' husband Roscoe owned and operated Flathead Valley Diesel Service in Kalispell. While living in Kalispell, Valee worked for a time at the Columbia Falls aluminum plant and was the bookkeeper for her husband's business.
For many years Roscoe and Valee traveled to various locations in the United States and wintered in Yuma, Ariz. Valee enjoyed singing and playing music with her husband and jamming with family and friends. They entertained at nursing homes often. She was well known for her fine, detailed embroidery. She was a member of the Church of Christ all her life.
Valee was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe, in 2007; one son, Dale; two brothers, Ernest and Norman Jenkins; and two sisters, Ruby Mann and Melba Lewis.
She is survived by one son, Jim Lewis of Kalispell; two daughters, Eva "Elaine" Stahlberg of Brentwood, Tenn., and Nancy (Mrs. Patrick) Murphy of Ocean Shores, Wash.; three granddaughters, Valee Stahlberg of Brentwood, Sherry (Mrs. Peter) Bugnet of Palm Coast, Fla., and April (Mrs. Alex) Harris of Gresham, Ore.; four great-grandchildren, LeeAsa Pomeroy, Andrew Bugnet, Eva Stahlberg and Valee Stahlberg; and several nieces and nephews.
At Valee's request, there will be no service.
The family will always remember Valee's caring nature and love for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
