Vicki Jean (Orndorff) Lamoreaux, 61, of Echo Lake, "went to heaven" July 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Vicki was born Sept. 7, 1951, in Billings to LaMar and Cora Orndorff
She met Ron Lamoreaux in high school and they were married in Columbia Falls, Sept. 19, 1970. They also resided in Bozeman and Kalispell before making Echo Lake their permanent home.
She received an associate's degree at Flathead Valley Community College and a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Montana State University in 1989, and taught special education at Head Start, Discovery Developmental Center and Cayuse Prairie School. Her greatest joy in life was working with children, especially the ones that needed a little extra help
She and Ron retired early and traveled around the United States visiting most of the Western states and a few east of the Mississippi. She would go south for the better part of the winter, until her latest granddaughter was born. She then could not leave for more than four or five weeks at a time. She also made multiple trips to Canada and Mexico, and went on a few cruises to the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean.
Her favorite experience was swimming with the dolphins. She enjoyed traveling and camping (as long as it wasn't roughing it too much) in her fifth wheel. Mostly she enjoyed time spend with family and friends, especially at the lake. She always said, "If you can retire early, do it and enjoy life." She had a good 10 years to do that.
She was preceded by her parents, and two brothers, Alan and Paul.
She is survived by her husband, Ron, at the family home on Echo Lake; her son Jeff of Kalispell, now serving in Afghanistan, and his girlfriend Aimee and her children, and his son Shawn and fiancee Mileah of Kalispell and daughter Seonna of Kalispell; her daughter, Tamara Larsen, and her daughter Samantha; and her very special friend, Karen Kessinger, and daughter Wendy, whom she considered family.
There are no words that can express how much she loved and enjoyed spending time with her children, Jeff and Tamara, and her grandchildren, Shawn, Seonna and Samantha.
She is also survived by her brothers Gary of Missoula, Brian and his wife Darlene of Kalispell, and Jan and his wife Janet of PoIson; her brother-in-law, Bud Lamoreaux, and wife, Elaine, of San Angelo, Texas, sister-in-law, Jolayne Tuttle, and husband, Graham, of High River, Alberta; and sister-in-law, Mickey Perry, and husband, John, of Columbia Falls; also numerous nieces and nephews, and their children.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Columbia Falls, with burial to follow at St. Richard's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in her name to any charity of your choice that benefits children.
