Wakako “Katie” Kondoh-DuPuy

Wakako “Katie” Kondoh, 82, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at her home in Kalispell, Montana, after a short battle with liver cancer.
Born in Japan, she moved to the United States in the late 50’s. She devoted much of her life to her children and remained in the Kalispell area the rest of her life.
She was a dedicated employee of the Elks Lodge in Kalispell for 35 years, and took great pride in her work in the service industry. She retired from the Elks and enjoyed her life after that remaining active and spending time with friends and family. One of her pleasures in life was to host parties at her home, where she prepared many culinary dishes that were enjoyed by all. She was a beautiful singer and excellent seamstress. She was always such a pleasure to those around her, a reflection of the fact she loved people and treated them with high regard and kindness.
She leaves behind her long-time companion, Richard Presnell ; her brother, Teruo Kondoh, Yokohama, Japan; her daughter, Kathleen Burk; her step-daughter, Sandi DuPuy; her grandsons, James Burk, Adam Sheldon, Zane Sheldon, Luke Sheldon, Ed Kotoch, Robert DuPuy, and Jeff DuPuy; her granddaughters, Jessica Sheldon-Goetting, Randi DuPuy, and Jeannine DuPuy; her great grandchildren; her family in Japan and her many close friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Burk.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at the Elks Lodge, 1820 Highway 93 South, Kalispell, Montana. The family welcomes all who knew Katie to share this time and bring any photos and stories you may have. Food and drinks will be provided. Memorial contributions are requested to be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in dedication to the memory of her son, Bruce Burk.
