At 2:30 PM Saturday November 27, 2010 a wonderful man “Bill “passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. When you hear the star spangled banner think of William T. Savage . Bill’s life represented many values which he always shared with each of us. His immense pride of serving his country is the first that comes to mind. Bill served in the US Army Air Corps from 1944 to1946. During the years of 1941 and 1947 the US army Air Corps was a branch of the Army service. Bill believed in fighting for his country. He said “ I wish I would have stayed in the service” This was during the time when India served as the base for the Army Air Force operations against the enemy in Burma. All aid, forwarded to China was through this base. He had stories about being in India. His articles included the development of the Azon Bomb as this was developed during the time of his service. He felt he was a part of this history. Bill treated everyone all with incredible kindness, and he never forgot a name, and everyone that touched his life was important to him. Bill was born in Windsor, Missouri January 14, 1926 and moved with his family to Havre, Montana. Bill was a dedicated son. His father George H Savage died when Bill was 10 years old. Bill took over the job of providing for his mother, Eunice I. Howard (madden name) who preceded him in death. He would make sure all her needs were met, including taking her on vacation. Bill worked as a construction superintendent in Spokane, Washington. He was the superintendent when the K mart in Spokane was built. His family in Spokane includes numerous nieces and nephews He married Delories A. Culligan October 22, 1993 in Lake County. Bill became an instant father and Grand father. Bill and Delories would watch the grand kids and he was a fantastic golf teacher. I loved his score keeping because we were all winners. Cathy, Bill’s niece, said the DMV might miss Bill because he loved getting a new ride. The motor homes he loved represented his freedom. He taught our children values which I respect and appreciate. They all have fond memories of Bill’s lessons : 1.Always pay a debt soon as possible. 2.Be like a cork in water. If someone pushes you down just pop up somewhere else. 3. Remember the reward of hard work and reach your goals.” His grand children remember a lot of great times but the thing they remember the most are the feeling that he gave to people when he was around. Bill is survived by wife Delories Savage. Adoppted children and spouses Sandy and Mark Muckey, Larry and Dena Gursky, Bill and Cheryl Ashe, Joe and Bernadine Sorenson, and Paul and Laura Hagan. Grandchildren Darcey and Robby Willig, Jenifer,Kylee, Allen Gursky, Brian and Jeffrey Ashe, Haily and Colby Hagan. His “girl” Kriss Bridenstine and honorary granddaughter Aly Summers Great grand child Caden Sorenson, Timmy, Kevin and Edna Willig. Last but not least his two Yorkie’s stood vigile around the clock. Sweetie and Reba will miss him as much as we do. Bill loved food, dinners, friends and cheese cake. He had a daily routine of checking the weather, the mail, asking if the dogs were feed and if the car had gas. Bill loved taking us all to Breakfast. In Bill’s honor we will meet for Breakfast at Perkins December 22 ,2010 .
