William “Bill” Edens, a loving husband, father, and grandfather lost his battle with Parkinson’s on December 30, 2021 at the age of 83.
Bill was born on May 18, 1938 in Grandfield, Oklahoma and ultimately ventured into Cut Bank with his family as they followed the annual wheat harvest to Montana. There, in high school, he met the love of his life, Metha Meade, whom he married in 1959 after proudly serving in the US Navy.
With a high school education, common sense, and a hard work ethic, he started a few businesses and purchased his father-in-law’s fuel distribution business, Dodd’s Wholesalers, in Cut Bank. There he and Metha raised their children, Corey and Trudy, and he became deeply immersed in the community.
In 1994, they sold their businesses and moved to the Flathead Valley, where he enjoyed being closer to family and forging new friendships in his remaining years.
Bill was an avid reader, loved home renovation, new challenges, and casual conversation. He cherished the time spent with his family on the lake, traveling in their motorhome, and watching the Dallas Cowboys (especially when they were winning).
He is survived by his devoted wife, Metha, his children Corey Edens and his wife Kay, Trudy Gebhard and her husband John, and his much-loved grandchildren John Gebhard, Shelby Culp (Rob), Will Gebhard and Blaine Edens and great grandchildren Eleanor and Wallace Culp. Bill was family to many others–most notably Robert, Jackson and Peyton Walker. Bill was predeceased by his father Robert, mother Retha and brother Bob.
